Will the handisure® work with my doors?

  • Your handisure® door finger guard is designed to be used on standard wooden or PVC domestic internal doors with any height or width (33 to 37mm and 43 to 47mm thickness or 1 – 3/8” ± 1/16” and 1 – 3/4” ± 1/16” inch). If the handisure® door finger guard is used on a door thinner than a standard domestic internal door (35mm ± 2mm | 1 – 3/8” ± 1/16” inches), it is entirely at the risk of the user, and the manufacturer bear no responsibility.

Can the handisure® door finger guard be fitted on any type of hinge?

  • Your handisure® door finger guard is compatible with doors with most types of hinges, including butt-hinges, which is the commonest type of hinge (standard hinge) in a domestic setting. The device will also work on most doors fitted with flush hinges but in rare cases it may interfere with complete door closure.

Will the handisure® door finger guard work with front doors (exterior doors), uPVC, sliding or bi-folding doors?

  • No. The handisure® has been designed for domestic internal doors only. If the handisure® door finger guard is used any door other than domestic door, it is entirely at the risk of the user, and the manufacturer bears no responsibility.

What should I check for before installing the handisure® door finger guard?

  • The door should be securely fitted by a professional.
  • Recommended hinge size for the door used.
  • All hinges should be securely fitted with correct type of screws.
  • Hinges should be checked for missing screws and any missing screws need to be replaced.
  • Hinges should be regularly checked for loosening and screws tightened if needed.

Do I need any tools to install the handisure® door finger guard?

  • The installation of the handisure® is very simple. No tools are required.

  • Yes. The handisure® door finger guard is very simple to install and uninstall. It is portable. This makes it perfect for those trips to grand parents’ house or can even be taken on holiday.

Can my child defeat the handisure® door finger guard?

  • Your child can defeat anything! As the common saying goes nothing is child proof. However, the handisure® door finger guard has been designed to be difficult to be reached by an average height toddler (1 – 3 years). The handisure® door finger guard should be used only for its intended purpose of stopping doors from closing. It is not a toy. Parents should at all times make sure that it is kept out of the reach of children.

Will handisure® damage the doors?

  • Do not try and close the door against your handisure® door finger guard without disengaging it first. Attempting to close the door against the handisure® door finger guard may cause damage to the door, hinges or frame, and on very rare occasions may cause the door itself to become loose.

Can the handisure® door finger guard be used on fire doors?

  • The handisure® door finger guard is designed only for domestic use. It is illegal to obstruct fire doors in commercial buildings. There are no restrictions to use door stops in domestic dwellings.  User discretion is recommended but it is the best practice not to obstruct fire doors even in domestic dwellings.
